Having a soft surface to reduce injuries is important. Many types of surfacing are available including; ruber mulch, engineered wood fiber, rubber tiles, treated mulch, and synthetic turf. The surface you select depends on the structure we are building and the safety guidlines for your speciifc project.
Thickness of the surface is usually determined by the tallest piece of equipment and distance to the ground. Manufacturer warranties may also have guidleines so you are covered under the warranty.
